Healing The Mother Wound: Open the Path to Healing Issues with your Mother

Posted on by Ashley

Healing the mother wound is essential for so many. But many people do not recognize that they have issues with their mother at all. We go through not knowing why we do what we do, but often, it’s because of what we experienced as children. In order to become your full self, you must heal from the conscious and unconscious traumas that you faced, including the mother wound and issues you have with your mother.

In my own life, I’ve had to heal from many traumas, including the mother wound. It wasn’t until I began to see my mother and understand her path in life that I truly began to heal.

The mother wound is the trauma we carry from our mom’s actions or lack thereof during our childhood. It’s when our needs weren’t met, or we felt neglected mentally, physically, spiritually or emotionally. This hurt can really affect how we grow up. It’s important to recognize and understand this hurt so we can heal and move forward in our personal growth and relationships.

In order to heal the mother wound, you first have to Acknowledge that the wound exists and affected your life in some manner. There are many symptoms of mother issues that show up in your life when a mother wound is present. These can range from different types of self-sabotage, difficulties in forming healthy relationships, to struggles with self-esteem and identity. Mother wound trauma runs and deep and shapes your life in many ways.  Unless healed mother wound trauma can lead to repeated cycles that can be challenging to break without the proper tools and support.

Healing from the mother wound requires patience and self-compassion. This journey often includes seeking support, and becoming self-aware.

Where Does The Mother Wound Come From

The mother wound refers to emotional, mental, or spiritual trauma from your relationship with your mother. Most of the time this happens in childhood but it can also occur in adulthood as well.

How The Mother Wound Affects You

The Mother wound can affect you in many areas of your life. Some ways that issues with your mother can affect you are:

  • Impact on Self-Esteem: Constant criticism or lack of nurturing from a mother may lead you to internalize negative beliefs about your self-worth.
  • Influence on Relationships: Trust issues and lack of nurturing from mother wound trauma can affect your relationship with your mother.
  • Emotional Regulation Difficulties: If your mother was emotionally unavailable, you might struggle with balancing or managing your emotions.

How The Mother Wound Shows Up

The mother wound can show up in many areas of your life. It can affect how you think, act, believe, connect, interact, show up and more. Recognizing how the mother wound affects you is an important step in healing the mother wound.

  • Not feeling good enough
  • Low self-esteem
  • Self sabotage
  • Low self worth
  • Lack of boundaries
  • Repeated patterns in relationships
  • And more

Healing The Mother Wound

Therapy is one way that you can begin to address the symptoms of issues you have with your mother. However, I’ve found that spiritual healing, healing for the soul, is what makes a lasting difference in your mother wound.

The journey to healing from a mother wound involves recognizing that the mother wound exists, doing spiritual shadow work, healing your subconscious thought patterns and then embracing a new way of thinking about your mother.

My audio class, Healing the Mother Wound goes deep into how to identify and heal your mother wound. You will walk away with the tools needed to heal the issues with your mother after taking this class.

Shadow work – Shadow work involves facing that side of yourself that is often hidden or repressed. This is the side of you that most people don’t know or see. It is the side of you that acted in a manner of survival. Many traumas are hidden in the shadows so it’s important to do shadow work in order to help you uncover trauma that may need to heal. My class, Understanding and Working With Your Shadow Self takes you step by step through the process of doing your shadow work so that you learn how to integrate this important part of yourself.

  • Journaling: Keeping a journal allows you to explore and express your emotions in a safe space. You will uncover hidden aspects of your self and your relationship with your mother through frequent journaling. I’ve created a list of helpful journal prompts for healing the mother wound here.
  • Affirmations: Reprogramming your subconscious mind so that you begin to walk in the new version of your healed relationship with your mother is vital to overall healing. I’ve created a list of helpful affirmations for healing the mother wound here.

Healing the mother wound isn’t easy but it is worth it. When you heal this wound, your life and experiences will begin to shift. You will begin to recognize a version of yourself that is more aligned with the healed you, not the wounded you.

Start healing your mother wound today but taking my 3 part audio class, Healing the Mother Wound. It’s on demand is goes deep into the psychology and technique of how to heal your own mother wound.
